Credit Card and Debit Card Policy

The document outlines the customer payment policy of Liberty Liquors (Pty) Ltd, effective from 17 November 2025, and applies specifically to all in-store purchases made via credit or debit card.

Credit and Debit Card Transactions
Liberty Liquors accepts all major credit and debit cards except Diners cards, provided they have chip-and-PIN or contactless functionality. Customers must authorize transactions by entering their PIN or providing a valid signature.

Identification Requests
For high-value transactions, staff may request a valid form of identification such as an ID book, driver’s license, or passport to verify the cardholder’s identity. This measure is for fraud prevention and is not mandatory if the card is signed and the transaction is authorized. The company assures customers that they will never retain or copy any form of ID.

Multiple Swipes and Split Payments
The policy prohibits multiple swipes of the same card to split a single transaction. Customers may split payments using multiple cards, but both cards must be in the customer’s name, or by combining cash and card payments, subject to staff approval. This policy aims to protect both customers and the business from fraud and chargeback risks.

Refusal of Service
Liberty Liquors reserves the right to decline transactions that appear suspicious, exceed card limits, or violate the payment policy. Customers who refuse to comply with payment procedures may be asked to use an alternative payment method.

Receipts and Documentation
A receipt is issued for every transaction. In cases of split payments, customers are required to sign a summary receipt confirming the total amount paid.
